This Blanca just rocked, it has found a new home but I am hoping for another new Juan Miguel Gonzalez guitar later this year, call with questions or to place a deposit...

This new Blanca just arrived and is so similar to the last Blanca that recently sold, that I can't improve a bit on what I wrote before:

Juan Miguel Gonzalez (Played by Tomatito and others) is building some of the finest Flamenco guitars in Spain at present. Although he learned to build in the style of Gerundino, he has always been true to his own vision of the Flamenco guitar. No doubt the fact that luminaries like Tomatito own and play several JMG guitars has helped increase awareness of this fine builder in recent years. With the greats like Arcangel Fernandez and Manuel Reyes no longer taking orders, there has been much speculation about who would fill their shoes. It seems that Juan Miguel is one of the fine builders poised to do just that. This guitar is a fine sample of his art, even though brand new, it is already possessed of a very open sound, exceptional volume, enough to cut through a throng of aficionados doing 'palmas' to be sure! The basses are crisp and muy flamenco, while the trebles are extremely clear and never overpowered by the basses, the melody always remaining prominent as you play. The Cypress is very old, Juan Miguel says it has been in his family for nearly 50 years, and he uses my favorite combination of finish, lacquer back and sides with a French Polish of Shellac on the top. This is the kind of blanca we all dream about, from one of Spains ever rising stars. I am always excited when I know a JMG is arriving. Having had the great good fortune of having Manuel Reyes build me many guitars I know how exciting it is for we lover of Flamenco to anticipate a guitar of this level. JMG is one of a handful of builders that elicits from me the same excitement and anticipation as if I was receiving another new Reyes. That level of anticipation is always rewarded, and this guitar continues that wonderful trend. One of the best Blanca's you can buy these days.
