No doubt the fact that luminaries like Tomatito own and play several JMG guitars has helped increase awareness of this fine builder in recent years. With the greats like Arcangel Fernandez and Manuel Reyes no longer taking orders, there has been much speculation about who would fill their shoes. It seems that Juan Miguel is one of the fine builders poised to do just that.

While he learned to build in the style of Gerundino, and you can certainly hear that in his guitars, he has evolved his own style and it is that sort of magical blend of the two that seems to have created so many fans of his guitars.

This Blanca plays comfortably and has a crisp attack, quick basses and clear, ‘separated’ trebles. As I have noted in the past with Arcangel Fernandez and Manuel Reyes not really taking new orders, builders like Juan Miguel Gonzalez and Jose Marin Plazuelo seem to be achieving the level of interest that they always deserved. Juan Miguel Gonzalez is one of my personal favorite Flamenco builders at this time, and this guitar is a very fine Blanca as usual, from him.
