OK here is one for you Ramirez fans out there. And no, that price is not a misprint! Read on…..
This guitar was sent to me by a steel string luthier friend who had it in his shop, wanted to move it, but does not have a classical guitar clientele. So he told me he had $2500 in it and asked if I could find a home for it. I am selling it for him as a favor to him, I am not making a penny myself, so this is why the price is so far below what you might expect.
Yes, it is also true it is a bit of an ugly duckling, as you can see there is some peeling of the finish in the back, some wear on the top, etc etc, and the center seam of the top was expertly repaired and cleated in the Ramirez shop a year after the owner bought it, and a receipt dated Jan 5 1968 for this repair is included ( see photos ).
The Brazilian rosewood alone is worth more than the price of this guitar!
This guitar is stamped IM indicating it was built by Ignacio Manzanos Rosas who worked in the Ramirez shop from 1959-1969 before moving to the Contreras shop where he worked from 1970-1970 whereupon he left to open his own shop.
It sounds and plays great, and is priced very very low as you know, I hope to find a good home for this old war horse.
It even come in what could be it’s original case.
