Though Julian has been building for quite some time, this is the first one that I have had in the shop, so I really enjoyed getting to know this guitar, and comparing it in my mind to the guitars of Matthias.
Julian is essentially building the same guitar, in the same style as his father Matthias and so not surprisingly perhaps it is easy if you close your eyes to know that you are playing a Dammann. Same lovely tone, same incredible dynamic range. Same ease of play due to the immensely efficient design. Same sense that with the slightest touch you are not ‘plucking’ a note on the guitar, but instead ‘releasing’ a note from the guitar.
The 12 hole tie block and elevated fret board, as well as the Chris Barnett tuners will all be familiar to Dammann fans.
Visually it is a very warm colored guitar, and Julian has designed his own lovely rosette and label to distinguish his guitars from what otherwise could easily be thought to be a Matthias build.
This instrument is in like new condition.
