Comparing new Jose guitars to new Liam guitars side by side has been remarkable in the sense that they are essentially identical as new instruments. Built in the same style and even using the same exact old aged woods.
So could there be a new 2025 Jose Romanillos? Well the answer is pretty much ‘yes’. Liam contacted me about a year ago. He said his father had completed one last guitar before he passed away. He had completed all the parts and was ready to assemble the various components and apply the finish but he was never able to complete the instrument.
Liam collected all the finished components from his fathers shop in Spain, and brought them back to his shop in England, and over a period of months he carefully assembled the completed components and applied the finish. We call it the ‘father/son’ guitar and it was a genuine labor of love as Liam gave birth to what is essentially the last new Jose Romanillos.
The guitar was essentially built by Jose, and assembled and polished by Liam, and I consider it effectively a ’new’ 2025 Jose Romanillos for that reason.
A loving, and lasting tribute to the bond between father and son, and a very very special guitar.
