This spectacular example by Hermann Hauser l constructed in 1948, is in a class of its own “The best of the best“. The owner is a knowledgeable client of mine, and collector. The guitar is entirely original with no cracks, no repairs and no re-finishing. (Photos show Rodgers tuners but original tuners are now back in place) A superb example of this iconic builder fit for the finest collection or the most discriminating player.
This instrument, the Segovia style instrument, with its casual nod to Torres (Note the decorative pearl dots on the bridge ala Torres) is also exceptional in that Hauser hand wrote the letters ‘m.p.’ on the label which references the latin phrase “manu propria” meaning “by my own hand”, a notation Hauser made on the label of certain guitars during this period which indicated he made the instrument solely by himself without the aid of his shop assistant or his son Hauser ll.
This is a ‘once in a lifetime’ opportunity to own a Hauser l of this caliber. The owner is a highly discriminating collector who ‘cherry picks’ only the best of the best in condition and sound. Simply the finest Hauser l one could hope to find.
