Visitors to my site, and my clients all over the world know that I have been fortunate to represent the finest double tops in the world for more than 30 years now. I have lost count of the many Dammann’s, Brück’s, Lebisch’s, Müller’s, Blackwell’s and Redgate’s to name a few, that have been through my shop over the years. The guitars themselves have evolved along with all the builders noted over all these years, and as great as they were years ago, they have become so refined, and so evolved that it is almost impossible to for me to contemplate how they could possibly ever continue to improve. What would they improve? I don’t know. it seems like the pinnacle of the development of the modern guitar. What a time to be alive.

So it is rare these days for a guitar to really ‘wow’ me, they ALL ‘wow’ me at this point. And yet, every once in a while one arrives that stands out even among these stellar peers.

This is such a guitar.

I should mention, that Spruce double tops are particularly challenging to build well, and so to have a guitar this incredible, and at the same time, to have it be a Spruce one, is absolutely incredible. The guitar is feather light, think in your mind the lightest guitar you have picked up. OK? Now envision an even lighter guitar! It is so featherlight that every note activates every aspect of the instrument, the entire instrument is involved and you fine yourself ‘feeling’ as much as ‘hearing’ the notes.

And what notes they are. Lovely, clear, beautiful layers of gorgeous Spruce colors that not only seem to respond to your thoughts and emotions, but which themselves, suggest other thoughts and emotions for you to explore. And the basses? Silky, lovely resonant and full bodies while still perfectly balanced with each other and with the trebles. Absolutely gorgeous.

Jakob continues to take the double top to new heights, and this guitar is really as close to perfection in a double top as I have heard.

Of course Jakob’s workmanship is standard setting, and his artistic aesthetic is unparalleled, creating a beautiful symbiotic feast of audio and visual sensations.
