As the Dammann wait list extended to the point where it is no longer likely that you can get on the list now and realistically expect to receive a guitar, players in Germany, and now the rest of the world, began looking for double tops that could meet, or possibly even exceed, what the best Dammann’s are known for. There are a very small select group of double to builders that have become so expert at their craft that they immediately were looked to in this regard, and I am very fortunate to work with all of them. I have the privilege to see/hear/play more double tops than anybody in the world. So when I make the comment that Jakob is building some of the finest double tops I have heard, you can be certain that I do not make such a comment lightly.

Every aspect of Jakob’s work is at the very highest level possible. He is exceedingly creative and an active ’seeker’ of taking double tops to even higher levels. His workmanship is flawless, his selection of woods very exacting, matching the perfect back and sides to the perfect top, and his eye for detail and for color is incredibly artistic so that the final instrument has a color palette that is highly complimentary and always stunningly beautiful. His French polish work is standard setting, like clear glass, just exquisite and yet it retains the look and feel of the wood below it. And finally his knowledge of construction of the challenging double top design is so much at the forefront that his guitars are setting new standards for what is possible.

The Klaus Scheller tuners are state of the art, and the Leona flight case fits like a glove and is protected by its own soft cover.

This guitar exemplifies every detail noted above, singing sonorous basses create lush support for the trebles that sing like a human voice, and of course the power and projection are off the charts, dynamic range is superb and balance is flawless.
