This guitar was a surprise, completely unexpected. Jim had built an Ana Model guitar for a client in Australia around 2014. The client treasured the guitar but sadly passed away recently. His widow contacted Jim about finding a new home for the guitar. Once Jim received it he loved the figured wood, and the ‘old’ style parabolic arched back that he used at that time ( current guitars are flatter on the back) but as good as it was, he felt he could make it even better with his more recent improvements in bracing and building.

So He decided, with the widow’s support and approval, to completely disassemble the guitar, preserving the lovely back and sides, and to build and entirely new guitar using that original back and sides and his latest version of his lattice top guitars. It is essentially a brand new guitar, hence the 2025 label.

It was a real treat for me to play this one, having been working with Jim for 30 years now, and seeing all his evolutions and progress, what a stunning blend of building styles perfectly combining ‘old’ and ’new’. The tone is just wonderful and she sings with the blended tone you might expect.

So far as I know, this is a one of a kind guitar and very special indeed.
