As someone who has specialized in the highest level double top guitars the past 30 years it takes a lot to blow me away. A lot. But Martin’s guitars do just that, absolutely amazing guitars, he really understands the many nuances and eccentricities of building a fine double top. I suppose it would come as little surprise then that no less than 6 first place GFA winners play Martin Blackwell guitars, and several finalists as well. That speaks volumes right there.

This guitar is a Spruce double top. Spruce double tops are harder to build for some reason, and only the top double top builders have mastered this in my opinion. Spruce, with its increased cross grain stiffness is ideal for double tops. This one sings right out of the box, a beautiful voice full of character and colors with a sound that Martin has carefully sculpted to create his own unique and lovely voice within the realm of the worlds finest double tops. Exquisite. And of course the dynamic range, balance and power and projection we expect from the best modern double tops is here in spades.

Martin sent it in a nice Visesnut case, and added lovely maple bindings, a fine set of Scheller tuners, an attractive and very comfortable arm rest, and topped it all off with a subtle sound port.
