With Phil’s understandably long wait list it has been quite a while since I have had the pleasure of a new Woodfield in my shop. Super stoked to receive this beauty. The tone reminds me of the Woodfield Scott Tennant acquired from me a few years ago, lush, musical, classic clear bell like trebles and rich singing basses with incredible projection and volume. Phil offsets the soundboard (see photos) in such a way that visually from the players perspective the fretboard looks like any other standard classical guitar, however the soundboard below the trebles is offset such that a very nice and functional ‘elevated fretboard’ is created on the treble side which really enhances access to the upper registers giving the player superb playability. On top of this the action is magically easy, soooo comfortable and effortless. The Baljak tuners are handsome as is the delicate art work on the back, rosette and tie block, back and sides are gorgeous Ebony one of Phil’s favorite woods. Spruce top of course. A treasure this one is….
