Scott Tennant told me he travelled around the world many times with his Woodfield Grand Concert ll named ’Natalie’, and with Scott’s discerning ear the fact that he enjoyed his Woodfield for so many years says much about Philip’s concert level guitars.

This is the same model Scott acquired, the Grand Concert ll, and you can note in the pbotos the elegantly elevated fretboard on the treble side, while the bass side remains the view that most are familiar with of a standard fret board.

Philip is a master of Spruce, and while he builds in Cedar of course, I think of him as sort of the “Spruce Whisperer”, he understands Spruce at a cellular level, and it is reflected in the lovely tone of his concert instruments. One of Philips favorite woods for the back and sides due to the beautiful tonal colors it produces, is 5000 year old ( not a typo!!) Bog Oak, which he used on this guitar. The voice is divine, and of course the lattice construction ads the elements of great volume and wide dynamic range that is expected in modern instruments.

Add to all this Philips attention to artistic detail, and you have a concert instrument that is as beautiful to look at as it is to play and hear.
