Davide Serracini- Italy
I ‘discovered’ Davide when the Italian government invited me to attend ‘Roma Expo Guitar 2024’. There were 30 very fine luthiers there, and at one point, Gabrielle, one of the expo hosts, played the same passage on each luthiers guitar while we all sat in the audience to listen. I listened with my eyes closed to seeing the builder and/or the guitar would not influence my decision. Only when I heard something that moved me did I open my eyes to discover who the builder was. This is what happened with Davide. I heard a beautiful expressive voice, very musical, and I opened my eyes to find Davide standing watching Gabrielle play. Later we went to a private room where a fine player played his guitars while I listened. I knew I had found a builder that I wanted to share and invited Davide to become a featured luthier. I bought two guitars on the spot, a fan braced and a double top, and both sold instantly when I returned to the US. Welcome Davide!! He writes:
“I was born in 1978 in Rome, Italy.
I attended the Civica Scuola di Liuteria di Milano from 2003 to 2007 where I learned from the masters Lorenzo Lippi, Tiziano Rizzi.
First of all I took inspiration by Antonio De Torres, Renè Lacote, Johann Georg Stauffer and Hermann Hauser, then I continued developing a personal line of technology, functionality, simplicity and elegance.
Every guitar I build is unique . At the same time every guitar I build keeps inside my own energies and aspirations. I like looking for an equilibrium between sound, shapes and decorations. I think function and aesthetics should blend harmoniously without useless distractions. Lightness and strength, sweetness and power, beauty and simplicity.
I’ve learnt the luthery of the classics, I’ve built replicas, then I found my way, I designed new projects, tried new materials, experimented new tools, some of them invented on my own, tried new solutions, I abandoned some of them, found new ones never forgot the origins. I like moving forward keeping side by side the history in a parallel track. I love to improve the perfection of details over and over.“
