This is just a lovely example of why Martin’s double tops are so much in demand. I should note here that Martin now has 4 GFA first place winners who played his guitars. In fact the last GFA first place winner as well as the third place winner both played Martin’s double tops!

Playing this guitar it is easy to understand why, of course the power and projection we all expect from a top tier double top is there, but the voicing is just beautiful and this guitar is incredibly articulate, responding almost to your thoughts as much as your touch. Impressive.

The action is very comfortable, and the arm rest keeps your forearm from dampening the soundboard as well as making a very comfortable area for your arm to rest. I am a fan of the sound port as well and in my opinion it is an option that really is for the player, it ads a presence of sound that is inspiring. The neck is elevated, and Martin uses a 12 hole tie block.

The Rosette is quite stunning but the real ‘visual’ star of this particular guitar is the absolutely gorgeous Red Madagascar wood Martin used on the back and sides. This is an upgraded wood, and I have never seen anything quite like, check out the photos, it is beautiful.

Thanks to Martin for another treasure…..
