As Tom’s only dealer I not only had the fun of getting to know him as a person, but also after selling so many of his instruments, I got to know his building very well also. His Millennium model, with it ‘cutaway’ level of access above the 12th fret and his trademark tone, made him one of the most sought after builders along with Robert Ruck, in the USA..

This earlier model, with its hybrid bracing ( see photo ) represents somewhat of a bridge between his fan braced instruments and his later lattice braced instruments. Not surprisingly then, it has a bit of the character of both. The tone is clear, and very well focused, nicely balanced with nice sustain.

This is a one owner instrument, built for the owner, who lovingly played it for many years, but has now developed hand issues, and so reluctantly is parting with his only guitar. The guitar is in fine shape, two or three noticable scratches exist but overall in great shape. There is a small well repaired crack in the upper bout that was cleanly stabilized by Humphrey himself in 1997 and has remained stable since.

This is a lovely example of Tom’s work.
