Guitars by the Rodriguez family from Cordoba are some of the most highly regarded in the world, having been played by many of the most famous guitarists of the 20th century. Miguel Rodriguez Sr. had twin sons, Miguel Jr. and Rafael – who was recognized as the great flamenco builder in the family until his untimely death in 1965. Rodriguez guitars bearing his stamp on the upper right corner of the label are rare, and particularly prized by players and collectors for their power and flamenco character – this guitar is a great example. The cool original pearloid tap plates have the signature Rodriguez outline (you can always tell when 60s-era Rodriguez flamencos retain their original golpeadores). Two very cleanly repaired cracks but no issues despite 65 years of age. Original Fustero tuners are in great working order and ready for many more decades of music. A guitar for the dedicated amateur or the professional, that would be equally at home in any high end guitar collection. Comes in a new Crossrock case.
The French polish has been lightly padded over, which would be invisible to most, but you can see it as a slightly thicker looking shellac on the back. and some nail marks covered on the top. The two cracks are in the common area below the bridge, and are repaired and very tight. The guitar looks very original, really beautiful, and surely please a collector or player.
