As the World leader in double top sales the past 30 years, I have had many double top guitars flow through the shop. Not surprisingly I have had several Kitselis double tops in the shop and have always enjoyed them.
Johannes builds in Sweden, not exactly the first country that comes to mind when you think ‘double top’ but that is part of the nice surprise.
Well constructed, with a 20th half fret, elevated fingerboard, 12 hole tie block and cedar/nomex double top, it possesses all the elements of a fine double top. The tone is clear and well balanced, and volume and dynamic range are enhanced as you might expect. To me it almost sounds and feels like a bit of a blend between a traditional fan braced guitar and a double top.
Hard to find a double top in this price range that would match it. Once again I find myself very much appreciating Johannes’ work.
