Tom was a dear friend of mine for many years, and I was honored that I was the only dealer he ever trusted with his ‘name’ and his guitars. Because of that I probably saw/heard/played more Humphrey’s than anybody but perhaps Tom himself.The owner, a good player, was able to pick this guitar out of a batch of 6 that Tom had built in the Spring of 2005. This was the pick of the litter so to speak. In fact the owner played a concert with this guitar on Tom’s birthday and received a standing ovation, a great gift to Tom who was sitting in the audience. I must admit this is one of the most satisfying and lovely Humphrey’s I have played, full round rich musical trebles and lovely complimentary basses, and super easy to play, especially in the upper registers with Tom’s elevated fingerboard. The lattice bracing provides excellent volume and projection and the Spruce is already aged and well played in. What’s not to love about this one….
