Gilbert was an innovator and the list of artists who played Gilbert guitars is long and distinguished including David Russell, Marc Teicholz, David Tanenbaum and others. He built in a thoughtful, almost ‘German engineering’ way due to his background, and created guitars that are very controlled, focused and precise.
This guitar #23 was built when he was still using the traditional saddle instead of his later pin style.
This is a wonderful example of why his guitars were, and are, valued by so many, Pure Gilbert, any fan of his guitars will adore this one, very balanced and even in tone with tremendous potential in every note for the player to craft as they wish and with excellent volume as well.
The instrument is in rather remarkable condition with only some very light playing wear, otherwise looks amazing.
