This is a very special Jose in its own way, being the last one built by Jose himself using the old Semley label. In fact it comes with a letter from Jose, and a photograph of him signing the letter, that confirms this. In addition the original owner custom designed a spectacular set of custom Rodgers tuners just for this instrument, and a pencil copy of his original design as sent to Rodgers is also included, along with come other correspondence between the original owner and Jose.
The tone of this guitar, like that of the famous ‘last 4’ is legendary, just magical, sparkling, alive with emotion and colors, absolutely on a par with any of the last 4. I expected the last 4 to be pristine like new, because they had never been owned, but this guitar was built in 1991and being more than 30 years old I expected it to arrive ‘clean’ but maybe with some dulling and a few marks on it etc. However I was shocked to open the case and find myself peering at as close to a brand new Jose Romanillos as I could possibly imagine. Fully French Polished it literally looks like it left the shop yesterday. Absolutely mint, perfect, flawless and like new.
