Jeffrey Elliott has a loyal following of classical and steel string players including Leo Kottke, and Earl Klugh and many others. Jeff tells me his wait list is effectively closed at this time while he tries to work through his multi year list. It is rare that I get an Elliott in the shop, I have had a few, and always enjoy the sound, playability and craftsmanship. If you follow Jeff’s guitars you know they command impressive prices, which willing admirers are happy to abide by.

This guitar, although a STEEL STRING guitar, which is very rare on my site, is fitting nonetheless because the neck is shaped like a classical neck and is non radiused neck so it makes not only a great steel string in its own right, but it is a particularly good crossover guitar for the many classical players who want to have a steel string in their stable, but one that feels familiar to the left hand.

Having owned some fine steel strings myself, vintage Martin’s, and Collings to name a couple, I really appreciate the tone of the Elliott steel string as well as the playability. Very balanced, with clear pure notes. European Spruce top and Rosewood back and sides.

The rosette is lovely, an Elliott trademark, there is a small opening where a mic jack once was, otherwise in near mint condition. Jeff designed this guitar to be very ‘classical friendly’ having the joint at the 12th fret and designed it for ‘finger style’ playing as well, so again, it is a great ‘crossover’ guitar for a Classical player for this and other reasons.

Another nice feature is that Jeff Elliott has offered to extend his new guitar warranty for this guitar to the new owner!!!

A great steel string in its own right, but particularly of interest to Classical Players who want to feel at ease switching between their classical and steel string guitars.
