ANA VIDOVIC’S NEW JIM REDGATE CEDAR DOUBLE TOP

Scale: 650mm
Origin: Australia
Owner: Ana Vidovic
In 2023 Jim had built his 500th guitar, and he pulled out all the stops for this guitar, you may by now have even seen on our Youtube channel the video of Ana playing this exact guitar. Jim had brought it up from Australia personally and was immensely proud of this instrument, it was incredible. He wanted to share it with Ana. Ana surprised us, as only she could do, by literally walking on stage with this guitar having essentially no time to get used to it at all, and played half her concert that night on this double top, and half on her beloved Redgate lattice. Jim and I sat there in the audience in awe of Ana, and of both guitars. It was a special moment for us both but especially for Jim as these guitars are like his children.
After the concert Ana highly praised the guitar and she and she asked Jim if he would build her one, but with the familiar headstock that she has on her lattice guitar so that they would both match. Jim agreed. One year later after selecting essentially the same exact woods he used on his guitar #500 ( now owned by a client of mine and which one day will end up in the Musical Instrument Museum in Arizona ) and carving the headstock as Ana had requested, Jim sent up her new double top and it is simply mind blowing. You can see it in the video here too ‘unboxing Ana Vidovic’s new Jim Redgate double top”.
Not surprisingly Jim went all in on this guitar and this guitar, it is and incredible guitar and rather than attempt to describe the tone here we can all expect to see and hear this guitar in the future in Ana’s concerts and recordings I am sure. As I write this I am preparing the guitar to ship to Ana, who has only seen photos, and I am very excited to hear her play it in the future.
Jim also made an identical ’twin’ of this guitar at the same time, which is #535, and is shown in a separate post.
