Another amazing Redgate has quickly found a new home, I am hoping for another new Redgate soon, if you would like to know more please contact me…
Jim Redgate and Matthias Dammann are arguably two of the finest luthiers in the world and I am fortunate to know them both. They are similar in one very important way I have noticed: they have an unceasingly restless quest to experiment, invent, and push boundaries. It may be no surprise then that they both are always pushing the envelope and I never quite know just what to expect when I see a new guitar from either one. It just seems like anything is possible and I am always amazed. What next? I usually end up asking myself. Such is the case with this new Spruce lattice braced instrument from Jim, he just keeps refining and tweaking and adjusting and taking a guitar that is already amazing, and somehow adding even more.
This is the same “Ana Vidovic” model we all know and love when we hear Ana play, but in Spruce, which brings a rich warm clarity to the voice and exotic colors, fabulous. Jim’s always superior trebles are joined by his well known silky basses, combining to create textures and tonal combination that are sure to leave even the most jaded player smiling. He has definitely made yet another break though with this one…
The instrument has an elevated fingerboard, twelve hold tie block, position markers on 5,7 and a 20th half fret, an arm rest, his best specially selected wood upgrade, lacquer back and sides and French Polished top with a special custom set of Graf tuners the “Ana Vidovic” style with jade nobs. An elegant and beautiful guitar who’s good looks are only surpassed by her angelic yet powerful voice.
