Manuel was always one of my favorite luthiers in Spain, pure old style Spanish gentleman, always willing to stop work and go have some Tapas. Such a great and kind man. This guitar from his ’60’s heyday is ‘Flamenco Puro’ all the way. His ’60’s guitars were more’‘woody’ and ‘earthy’ and raunchy sounding, they remind me more of the older Barbero’s in some ways and this guitar is like that, driving, quick, great flamenco basses and crisp trebles, just awesome.
This guitar has his older style headstock which he told me he liked very much, but he told me someone stole his ‘jig’ used to make the headstock and started using it themselves, so he adopted the current style that we all know. Great guitar in great condition, appears to be original too.
